DATE

2016 - 2017

LOCATION

Light Rail Corridor, Helensvale, Gold Coast

Delicate care needed to be taken when relocating the Aboriginal Scar Tree that was moved for Queensland Main Roads as part of the Gold Coast Light Rail Project.

PowerClear spent several days preparing and then removing the popular and sacred Eucalyptus tree. It was moved out of the main alignment of the G:Link Light Rail line. It was a 20-man operation. The roots were dug with two 30-tonne excavators and cut with high-pressure water cutters. A mechanical tree spade was used to remove the tree and it was transported o RoadTek’s Gaven depot where it was stored.

Once that section of the light rail was complete in 2017, PowerClear’s arborists relocated the scar tree as a highlight exhibition at the Helensvale Station.
